Reports are rife that Nivin Pauly may team up with director Lijo Jose Pellissery for the first time. Sources in tinsel town indicate that the filmmaker is in talks with Nivin Pauly and Anthony Varghese for his next. However, there is no official word on it yet.

Nivin Pauly’s last release was Hey Jude which did well at the box office. He is currently busy with the Geethu Mohandas directorial Moothon. The film’s second schedule began recently and Nivin Pauly is said to have joined the sets. A bilingual made in Malayalam and Hindi, the film will have Nivin playing a character named Akbar, who is in search of his long-lost older brother. The story had won the global filmmaking award at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016.

Besides Moothon, the actor also has Kayamkulam Kochunni in his kitty. A period film based on the life of the highwayman of the same name, it is being directed by Roshan Andrews. While Nivin Pauly plays the title role, the film will also feature Mohanlal in an extended cameo. Mohanlal will be seen playing the role Ithikkara Pakki in it. He had joined the sets of the film a couple of months ago and has now completed shooting for his portions.

Lijo Jose Pellissery, one of the maverick directors in the Malayalam film industry right now, began his career as a director with the 2010 release Nayakan starring Indrajith Sukumaran in the lead role. He went on to direct films such as City of God, Amen, Double Barrel and Angamaly Diaries. His next film, a satirical drama titled Ee Ma Yau, is coming up for release on May 4. The movie stars Vinayakan, Chemban Vinod Jose and Dileesh Pothan playing pivotal roles. PF Mathews has penned the script for this venture and music is by Prashant Pillai.
