This Onam, four Malayalam films - Mohanlal’s Velipadinte Pusthakam, Mammootty’s Pullikkaaran Staraa, Prithviraj’s Adam Joan and Nivin Pauly’s Njandukalude Naattil Oridavela – hit the silver screens and there was a lot of speculation among fans on which of these will emerge the winner at the box office.
According to trade sources, Nivin Pauly’s Njandukalude Naattil Oridavela has won the race. In fact, the film is said to be doing well at the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka box office as well. Directed by debutant Althaf Salim, the film has been produced by Nivin Pauly under his own banner Pauly Jr. Pictures.
This comedy drama has Nivin Pauly, Shanthi Krishna and Ahanaa Krishna in lead roles with Lal, Siju Wilson, Srinda Arhaan, Krishna Shankar, Sharafudheen, Dileesh Pothan, Saiju Kurup, and K.L. Antony Kochi in supporting roles.
Reports say that all the four films have done well at the Kerala box office but it was Nivin Pauly’s Njandukalude Naattil Oridavela which turned out to be a massive hit in other states as well. On the other hand, the three other Malayalam film releases, though box office successes in Kerala, did not find enough patronage in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka following which the films had to be removed from the theatres.
Nivin Pauly is quite popular in Kollywood as his Neram, a bilingual in Malayalam and Tamil, turned out to be a box office grosser. Premam, too, enjoyed a phenomenal run in the state. The star currently has a Tamil movie Richie in his kitty. The film has been directed by Gautham Ramachandran and is due to be released later this year.
