Kalidas Jayaram’s debut flick as hero in Mollywood, Poomaram, hit the silver screens recently after facing a lot of hurdles. The film, which was in the can for a long time for various reasons, is finally out at theatres and is garnering good response. It is not just movie buffs who are raving about the film but celebs as well.

Nivin Pauly is one of the stars in Mollywood heaping praises on Poomaram. He took to social media to convey his words of praise and his post has gone viral.

Soon after watching the film at PVR Cinemas in Kochi on the day of its release, Nivin went on pen on social media, “Loved watching #Poomaram. This is a movie that will be etched in my heart for a long long time. Poomaram is poetic yet so realistic. To me, this is one among the best classics of Malayalam cinema. For anyone who has been part of college youth festivals, this movie has moments and magic that will make you nostalgic. The meaningful climax is done with much perfection. Kalidas Jayaram, what a flying start this is! All the new actors in the film also need to be appreciated for their stand out performance. It’s truly a light hearted, feel good movie from Abrid Shine. Go & experience Poomaram in theatres!” (sic)

Written and directed by Abrid Shine, Poomaram has Kalidas Jayaram in the lead role with a star cast including Kunchacko Boban, Meera Jasmine, Joju George and Neeta Pillai. The film is based on the Mahatma Gandhi University Youth Festival that takes place annually where colleges under the university participate to vie for the champions trophy.

The film is bankrolled jointly by Paul Varghese and Abrid Shine under the banner Dr Paul Entertainments.

Kalidas Jayaram will be moving on to the Alphonse Putheran directorial which he had signed a few weeks ago. According to reports, Kalidas will be sharing screen space with Siddarth in this film. Music composer Rajesh Murugesan and cinematographer Anand C Chandran have been roped in for this project.
