Vijay Antony’s Thimiru Pudichavan, in which he dons khaki for the first time in his career, went on the floors on Wednesday.

The project is being directed by Ganesha, an erstwhile assistant of SS Rajamouli. It has been confirmed that Nivetha Pethuraj has been signed on to playing the leading lady.

Interestingly, she’ll also be seen as a cop. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Ganesha said: “Yes, she has a solid role and essays a woman police named Madonna in the film. Vijay Antony plays a higher officer in the police department. Nivetha is taking training from a woman SI on special arrangement.”

Apparently, Nivetha will perform stunts on her own. “She wants to try the action sequences sans a body double. Her character is required to ride a Bullet motorbike, sometimes with Vijay Antony in the pillion. She has been taught how to ride a Bullet and she is doing rehearsals sincerely.”

To be produced by Vijay Antony Film Corporation, Richard M Nathan will crank the camera. The rest of the cast and crew are yet to be officially announced. Antony will compose music and is also expected to edit the film.

For Thimiru Pudichavan, Antony will be seen sporting twirled mustache and he will shed a few kilos to play an uptight police officer. According to sources, it is expected to be a high-octane action entertainer.

Following the debacle of Annadurai, which sank without a trace at the box-office, Antony has bet big on his next two releases – Kaali and Thimiru Pudichavan.

In Kaali, directed by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, Antony plays four roles. Apparently, it’s a story of four sons in search for their long-lost mother.

Getting ready to hit the screens on March 30, Anjali, Amritha, Shilpa Manjunath and Sunaina play the leading ladies in Kaali, which will be dubbed and released in Telugu.
