The buzz doing the rounds in Sandalwood is that star Nikhil Kumar and S Krishna will be collaborating for a film. The actor and director have discussed the project and reports say it will go on the floors early next year. Lyca Productions, which has been producing some of the popular, big budget movies in the Tamil film industry, will be bankrolling the film.

According to reports, Nikhil Kumar will undergo a total transformation for the role that S Krishna has carved out for him. It is a very different and performance-oriented role, which was what attracted the actor, say sources.

Further, S Krishna is known as the hat trick director in the Kannada film industry as he has delivered three hits – Gajakesari, Hebbuli and Pailwaan – in a row.

Pailwaan, which Krishna had directed and produced, marked his collaboration with Sudeep for the second time after the massive success of Hebbuli. S Krishna’s wife Swapna debuted as a producer with Pailwaan by making it under the banner RRR Productions.

Sudeep played a boxer and wrestler in this flick and being his first-ever sports drama, he underwent a lot of training to learn the nuances of the martial arts. The technical crew of this film included Arjun Janya for music, Karunakar for camera work and Rubens for editing. Pailwaan was released in multiple Indian languages such as Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi.

Nikhil’s last film release was the mega-budget film Kurukshetra, in which he played the role of Abhimanyu. Kurukshetra, which was directed by Naganna, had an impressive technical crew as well. Jayanan Vincent cranked the camera for this film with Jo Ni Harsha doing the editing. Inspired by the poem Gadhayuddha, penned by the Kannada poet Ranna, the screenplay for the film was written by JK Bharavi.
