The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate courses is all set to take place on Sunday, May 5. This is the first time that the exam will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which took over handling the test process from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Students who have registered for the NEET UG 2019 can now print their admit cards for the exam online through the NTA website. The admit cards were made available on April 15. In addition to the admit cards, students also need to bring with them another valid proof of identification. Acceptable ID includes Aadhaar card, voter ID and PAN card. In addition, students should remember that the dress code states that they cannot wear shoes inside the hall and are being advised to wear sandals and slippers on the day of the exam.

The exam will begin at 2 pm and end at 5 pm.

According to the NTA’s official webpage, the results will be released exactly one month after the exam on June 5.

The NEET exam is conducted for admissions into medical (MBBS) and dental (BDS) undergraduate courses in colleges throughout the country which are recognised by the Medical and Dental Councils of India respectively. Institutions such as JIPMER (Pondicherry) and AIIMS (Delhi) which were established through an Act of Parliament do not require students to write the NEET and have their own entrance examinations.

The National Testing Agency is not only responsible for conducting the exam and announcing the results, it also has to provide an “All India Rank Merit List” to the Directorate General Health Service which will help those applying for seats in counselling under the All India Quota. The NTA also makes the results available for other colleges and institutions.
