Former Environment mininter Jairam Ramesh said that pursuing the issue of land acquisition ordinance would be like 'Sanjeevani' for the revival of Congress party, reported Deccan Herald.  “Like Chikkamagaluru was the Sanjeevini for the party in 1978 (Indira Gandhi won the by-elections after the end of Emergency), the political agitations will be the Sanjeevini of 2015 for the party,” the paper quoted him. The Karnataka state government would continue to follow the law passed in the UPA regime and oppose the new land acquisition ordinance that was introduced by the NDA government, he said. He added that the Congress party had already planned padayatras in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar along with other regions in the country with party vice-president Rahul Gandhi leading the agitation.
