Nayanthara’s socio-political thriller Aramm, which follows one day in the life of district collector Madhivadhani, was one of the sleeper hits of last year. A week after the film’s release, its producer K Rajesh confirmed that a sequel is in the offing and it will be even more powerful and hard-hitting.

According to the latest reports, Aramm 2 is slated to go on the floors from February 2019 and it will be directed by Gopi Nainar, who helmed the first part as well. If one can recall the last scene of Aramm, Nayanthara says that she will return soon. Contrary to reports, Nayanthara won’t be seen playing a politician in the sequel.

Talking to Cinema Express, director Gopi Nainar clarified the rumoUrs that have been doing the rounds for many months. “Nayanthara won’t be playing a politician but the film will continue to address important social issues. It will be more hard-hitting than the first part.”

Aramm 2 was supposed to go on the floors from September this year. However, due to Nayanthara’s multiple assignments, the shoot had to be postponed to next year. Having recently completed shooting for upcoming horror-thriller Airaa, Nayanthara also has Ajith’s Viswasam.

Nayanthara is currently shooting for megastar Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and she also has a yet-untitled project with Sivakarthikeyan in her kitty. Meanwhile, Aramm 2 will be produced by KJR Studios which had bankrolled the first part as well.

This year has been great for Nayanthara with two back-to-back blockbusters. With Kolamavu Kokila and Imaikka Nodigal, she has emerged as the only leading lady with films that have done business over Rs 100 crore.
