Actor Nayanthara and Aval fame director Milind Rau have joined hands for a new project which has been titled Netrikann. Tipped to be a thriller, the film is believed to be an official remake of Korean thriller Blind about a blind woman who gives testimony in a hit-and-run case, and is then forced to confront the killer on her own.

Apparently, Nayanthara plays a cadet at a police academy, who loses her eyesight after a car accident. The makers haven’t officially confirmed whether the film is a remake, however, going by the title font which is written in Braille, it’s safe to assume that Nayanthara plays a blind character in this film.

Another clue from the poster is the mention of Kross Pictures, a company that specialises in acquiring remake rights of Asian films. Kross Pictures had helped acquire remake rights of Korean thriller Montage which was remade in Hindi as Te3n.

Speaking to Cinema Express, Milind Rau said: “I cannot talk about the details of the plot now, but Netrikann will have Nayanthara in a never-before-seen-role. We are all excited about this project." The film marks the debut of Vignesh Shivn as a producer. He will bankroll the project under the banner of Rowdy Pictures.

Last seen in home invasion thriller Kolayuthir Kaalam, Nayanthara has a few interesting projects up her sleeve. As she awaits the release of upcoming Telugu magnum opus Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy she has also has Darbar with superstar Rajinikanth. She also has Vijay’s Bigil which is gearing up for Deepavali release.

Nayanthara might soon commence work on Aramm 2 with director Gopi Nainar. While she played a district collector in the first part, she will be seen in an even more powerful role in the sequel. Gopi had clarified that Nayanthara won’t be seen playing a politician in Aramm sequel.
