Nani starrer 'Gang leader' caught in title row

The Nani starrer Gang Leader is caught in a title row with SMK Films and Manikayam Movies filing a complaint at the Film Chamber that they have the rights for the title as it was registered by the production houses mentioned above.

There was also a suggestion that Nani’s film shall be titled Nani’s Gang Leader to avoid further troubles. On this issue, producer Ravi Shankar who is bankrolling the Nani starrer has told in an interview to the Deccan Chronicle, “We received the notice over the title row. We shall look into the matter whether to change the font of the title logo design or suffix the title with Nani’s name, and take a call soon. We went ahead with the title only after checking its availability. Moreover, we do not have any idea about the other film. Earlier too, we had Mahesh’s Khaleja, Kalyanram Kathi, etc. So this is not a big issue and we will fix it.”

The film is produced by Naveen Yerneni, Y. Ravi Shankar, and Mohan under the banner Mythri Movie Makers with Vikram K Kumar wielding the megaphone. Anirudh is composing music for Gang Leader.

It may be noted here that Gang Leader is the title of the yester year hit movie that starred Chiranjeevi in the lead role. It may be noted here that ever since it was announced that the film is titled Gang Leader, netizens, particularly mega star Chiranjeevi’s fans, have been discussing the suitability of the title for a Nani starrer. Chiranjeevi’s fans particularly felt that it should be used for his son Ram Charan Teja’s films. Despite a big round of discussion going on in the social media and forums, looks like the makers of Nani’s film will be retaining the title.
