One of the hottest topic for discussion is the ‘96 remake in Telugu. Noted producer Dil Raju has the remake rights of this flick and there are various rumours on the hero to be cast for the role. However, the film’s director Prem Kumar had reportedly told in an interview with a movie portal that nothing has been finalized yet. The producer had seen the movie and had a general discussion about it. Nothing more has been discussed and Dil Raju is currently in the US. Everything else will fall in place only after his return, we hear from sources.

Sources in the know say that Nani may be reprising the role done by Vijay Sethupathi in the Tamil version but there is a speculation that he may co-produce the film with Dil Raju leaving the hero role to another actor. Further, both Trisha and Samantha are in talks to play the female lead and we can expect an official announcement on who bagged the role soon.

96, a period flick set in the 1990s, has been directed by Prem Kumar, the cinematographer of the hit movie Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kanom. The film has been bankrolled by Nandagopal under his banner Madras Enterprises. The star cast of 96, besides Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha, also includes Varsha Bollamma, Aadithya Baaskar, Gouri G Kishan, Devadarshini, Janagaraj and Bagavathi Perumal in supporting roles. The film had music composed by Govind Menon with N. Shanmuga Sundaram cranking the camera and Govindraj editing it.

With the director of 96 making it clear that any progress regarding the Telugu remake will happen only after the producer’s return, we need to wait for more info on the developments.
