Nandita Das is making a comeback in the Telugu film industry. The actor was last seen in Tollywood in Kamli, which was released in 2006. Since then she was not seen in any Telugu movie, but apparently Venu Udugula of Naadi Needi Oke Kadha fame impressed her with a role in his upcoming film Virata Parvam 1992.

Speaking about the role in an interview to India Today, Nandita Das said, “I shot for a film, that too in a language I don’t speak after over a decade! But once I was on set, the whole atmosphere brought back the joy of being part of strong stories without having the responsibilities of being the director! It is a short but significant character, a role I relate to.”

She went on to add, “The director and the crew were really professional and friendly, and it was an absolute delight working with Sai Pallavi – an amazing actor and person. I look forward to working with Rana Daggubati in the second schedule.”

According to reports, Virata Parvam 1992 will be a romance film, but will also include a lot of action and politics to make the narration interesting. The film has Rana Daggubati playing a cop while Sai Pallavi will be seen as a naxalite in love with the cop. According to the buzz doing the rounds, Rana will be sporting a lean look for Virata Parvam 1992. As it is a period film, the actor was required to shed weight, say sources. Priyamani, Eswari Rao and Zareena Wahab have been roped in to play supporting roles in the film. The shooting of this film is in progress.

Virata Parvam 1992 is bankrolled by Rana’s father, Suresh Babu Daggubati, in association with Sudhakar Cherukuri. Suresh Bobbili has been roped in to compose music for this flick.
