The Nagarjuna starrer Officer, which is directed by Ram Gopal Varma, is slated for release on June 1. However, sources in the industry point out that the film has run into trouble with the Censor Board and has not been certified yet.

Apparently, the certification has not happened yet because Officer has a lot of violent content. Ram Gopal Varma was quoted by the Indian Express as stating, “It is a film about the violent society we live in and one man’s struggle to bring a semblance of sanity in the lives of common citizens. The violence in Officer is raw and real. You can’t show the reaction until you spotlight the action. The violence here is not gratuitous. It will make the audience uncomfortable, as any form of violence is supposed to.”

With the director agreeing that Officer does have violent content, it needs to be seen how the filmmakers will be able to release it on the scheduled date.

Officer, which brings together Nagarjuna and Ram Gopal Varma after nearly 25 years, will have the star playing a tough cop, who is on a mission to save a kidnapped girl. The film is produced by Ram Gopal Varma under the banner R Company Productions. Myra Sareen plays the lead opposite Nagarjuna in this action thriller, which also has Feroz Abbasi, Sayaji Shinde and Ajay in supporting roles.

Ravi Shankar is the music director for this venture while the camera work has been done by Bharat Vyas N and Rahul Penumatsa with Anwar Ali and R Kamal in charge of the editing. With the distribution rights sold out, the makers of Officer are gearing up for its release on June 1.

With just a few days for the film’s release, we hope the issue will soon be resolved amicably.
