The Nagarjuna starrer Manmadhudu 2, which he had produced under his banner, turned out to be a box office dud. Following this failure, the actor-producer is looking to score a big with his next venture. According to the latest reports, Nagarjuna is planning to bankroll a film under his own banner of Annapurna Studios. Also, we hear that his daughter-in-law, Samantha Akkineni, who is currently holding the top slot among heroines in Tollywood, will be playing the female lead in the project. Reports also suggest that Nagarjuna and son Naga Chaitanya will be part of the star cast as well. The project is still in the nascent stages and we can expect more clarity on it in the coming days.

Samantha’s last film release as the lead was Oh Baby, which turned out to be a massive hit. Directed by Nandini Reddy, Oh Baby is the official remake of the South Korean comedy-drama Miss Granny that was written by Shin Dong-ik, Hong Yun-jeong and Dong Hee-seon and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk. Na Moon-hee starred as a woman in her 70s who magically finds herself in the body of her 20-year-old self after having herself photographed at a mysterious photo studio. Samantha played the younger version and veteran actor Lakshmi played the senior version in the film. The star cast also included Rao Ramesh and Naga Shaurya in important roles. The film was bankrolled by Sunita Tati under the banner People’s Media Factory and Suresh Productions. Mickey J Meyer composed music for this film.

Samantha has been having a great year with hit releases like Super Deluxe and Majili. She is currently busy with a couple of films in the pipeline. Apart from playing the cameo in Manmadhudu 2, she also has the Telugu remake of the Tamil film 96. C Prem Kumar, who had directed the original version, is wielding the megaphone for this version as well.
