Circle Inspector VS Navas, who has been missing for over 24 hours now, faced ‘mental pressure’ from a senior officer, Navas’s wife told the media in Kochi on Friday. She also alleged that CI Navas was forced to lodge a fake case as ordered by a superior officer.

Speaking to the media with her face covered, Navas’s wife recounted that the last time she saw her husband, he was very upset and that Navas had had a heated exchange of words with Assistant Commissioner of police over the phone on Wednesday night.

“When he came home on Thursday morning after his duty, he looked very upset and told me not to ask him anything for some time. I did not press him further and thought that I will ask about the matter in detail after some time,” she said.

Navas’s wife stated that she went to sleep after that but within a few minutes, she received a text message from Navas telling her that he was leaving.

“He was always immersed in work, day and night, and could not even spend much time with the family. Even before this incident, he faced a lot of mental pressure from senior officers. But he had overcome this before and I thought this time will be the same,” Navas’s wife told media.

The missing Circle Inspector’s wife also told media that though she had submitted a complaint to police officials, including the commissioner, no one was giving contacting her unless she called asking them about her husband.

“I filed a complaint at Thevara police station around noon on Thursday and that night, I met the city police commissioner and filed a complaint there as well. I also sent a complaint to the Chief Minister on Friday morning. I was told by the police that Navas had told someone that he will only return after 10 days but they are not telling me who that is. I am really worried and I don’t know what to tell my children who are asking where their father is,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Kochi city police commissioner has formed a special investigation team to find CI Navas. The four-member team is headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police G Poonguzhali.

According to the police, Navas is said to have travelled through Kollam. Police officers showed his wife CCTV visuals of Navas present at KSRTC bus stand in Kollam. The police have also accessed CCTV visuals which showed the police officer withdrawing money from an ATM located near his house in Thevara early morning on Thursday.
