A regional web news channel and a party worker belonging to the Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) were booked in Hyderabad by the South Zone police for allegedly promoting enmity between two groups, after he released a video issuing a dire warning to BJP MLA Raja Singh.

According to reports, Asif Iqbal, who also runs a web channel, posted a video on WhatsApp through his channel IB 24x7 a few days ago, in which he allegedly made provocative statements. He was booked under Section 295 A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion) of IPC. He was arrested by police and was released later on bail.

South Zone DCP told Telangana Today, “His words in the video are highly objectionable and may cause breach of peace and public tranquillity. He is promoting enmity between communities. A case is registered under appropriate sections of law against him and also against the channel, which is circulating the video.”

In the video, he reportedly warned of dire consequences against BJP MLA Raja Singh, if the police did not arrest him.

Iqbal had complained against Raja Singh a few months ago, when the latter made provoking statements against Muslims and called for a removal of mikes from Mosques. Angered by Goshamahal MLA’s hateful comments, Iqbal had filed a complaint against Raja Singh in the Rein Bazar police station. Though the police had charged Raja Singh under IPC 153A (promoting enmity between two groups), he was served a notice to respond to the complaint against him. He is yet to be arrested.

Raja Singh who is a repeat offender stoked yet another controversy by making provocative statements against the Muslims and calling for a ban on their religious book, which he termed ‘Green Book’, a week ago.

Police have served notices to Raja Singh seeking his explanation about the hateful video.
