Violinist Balabhaskar’s father CK Unni approached Kerala Director General of Police,  Loknath Behera asking for a probe into the death of his son and grandchild. CK Unni, along with the rest of the family has filed a complaint seeking to know why the musician hurriedly went back to Thiruvananthapuram in the night

Last month controversies surrounding the musician’s death due to a road accident near Pallipuram in Thiruvananthapuram started doing the rounds. This was due to contradictory statements made by Balabhaskar’s wife Lakshmi and driver Arjun – both of who survived the September 25 accident. While Arjun told the police that Balabhaskar had been driving the car when the accident occurred, Lakshmi said that he was sitting in the rear seat of the vehicle while she and daughter Tejaswini sat in front.

On September 25, 2018, the car in which the musician was traveling with two-year-old daughter Tejaswini, Lakshmi and friend Arjun crashed into a tree near the Pallipuram CRPF camp in Thiruvananthapuram. While Tejaswini passed away on the spot, the three adults were hospitalised. A week after the accident, Balabhaskar who was critical passed away from a cardiac arrest on October 2 in Ananthapuri hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.

Balabhaskar's father in his letter to the DGP has said that the family had booked a room in Thrissur and had planned to stay over that night. But Balabhaskar had suddenly cancelled the trip and started towards Thiruvananthapuram in the night. CK Unni also wants a probe on Arjun's antecedents. He has told the DGP that he had suspicions over an investment that Balabhaskar made at the behest of Arjun.

“I haven’t received the complaint in hand from the DGP. But we will be looking at the aspects of the complainant and his doubts while investigating the case,” Attingal Dysp Anil Kumar said.

“As of now we are still trying to find out who drove the car. While most eye witnesses are saying that it was Balabhaskar who drove the car, some others are saying it was Arjun. So we have to find another way to investigate and get some conclusive evidence,” he added

Balabhaskar is a well-known musician and is popular for his stage performances. He began his music career at the young age of 12 and was the youngest music composer to have worked in the Malayalam film industry, with the soundtrack for the movie Mangalya Pallak. The musician is well known for his work with fusion music in the South. He is based out of Thiruvananthapuram.
