According to the makers of the Mohanlal starrer Pulimurugan, it is the first film in India to release in the 6D format. The film’s plot was condensed into a 10-minute film, and released in the 6D format recently. The premiere was held at a theatre in Kochi, which gave a unique experience to the viewers.

The Times of India quoted Anuba Sinha, the team head of the project, as saying, “It is an amazing experience to be in a hall where you could actually feel the storm and the leaves flying when Mohanlal kills the tiger. It's like living that moment and not watching it. These ten minutes of Pulimurugan will change the whole perspective of Malayalam cinema.”

She also said that the 6D conversion is a very expensive project which is why many filmmakers don’t opt for it.

Pulimurugan, an action adventure film that has been directed by Vysakh, hit the marquee on October 7, 2016. Made on a budget of Rs. 25 crore by Tomichan Mulakuppadam under the banner Mulakupadam Films, the film went on to collect over Rs. 100 crore.

Starring Mohanlal in the lead role, Pulimurugan’s star cast had Kamalini Mukherjee, Jagapati Babu, and Lal in pivotal roles.

Gopy Sunder had wielded the music baton for this flick with Shaji Kumar cranking the camera and John Kutty editing it.

The film was a huge success both commercially and critically. It went on to win several awards including Asiavision Awards, Vanitha Film Awards, Asianet Film Awards and South Indian International Movie Awards.

According to trade sources, Pulimurugan is the first Malayalam film to cross the Rs.100 crore mark and Rs.150 crore mark in the Malayalam film industry. Also, it is the highest-grossing Malayalam film ever and the third highest-grossing South Indian film in 2016.
