Dhanush’s Velai Illadha Pattadhari 2 (VIP 2) is all set for release on August 11. The prequel was a massive hit which has raised the expectation levels for the film. In fact the distribution rights of the film have been sold out like hot cakes and the latest is that Mohanlal’s Max Lab Entertainment has bagged its Kerala rights. The distribution house has been procuring the rights of various biggies including the Rajinikanth starrer Kabali that released last year. With a leading distribution house like Max Labs taking up the distribution rights in Kerala and no major Malayalam film releasing over this weekend, VIP 2 is sure to cash in on it.
While VIP was directed by cinematographer turned director Velraj, the sequel has been helmed by Dhanush’s sister-in-law and Rajinikanth’s younger daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth. VIP 2, touted to be a comedy drama, has Dhanush, Kajol Devgn, Amala Paul, Vivek, Saranya Ponvannan and Samuthirakani in the star cast. An added attraction to the star cast happens to be Kajol Devgn as she is returning to the Tamil film industry after a long gap.
Produced jointly by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and Kalaipuli S Dhanu’s V Creations, the film has reportedly been made on a budget of Rs. 8 crores. The technical crew of VIP 2 includes Sean Rolden for music, Sameer Thahir for cinematography and Prasanna GK for editing.
The film was initially planned for release on Dhanush’s birthday on July 26 but the release date was postponed to August 11 as its makers wanted to release it in Tamil as well as Telugu simultaneously. The team has been promoting the film on a massive scale and it is sure to pay off at the box office, state sources in the tinsel town.
