The first look of Mohanlal in the film Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham has been released online. His long lock of hair and thick beard certainly ensures that he looks a warrior in the film. It may be noted here that the veteran actor Siddique’s look, revealed a few days earlier, was also similar to that of Mohanlal’s.

The movie went on the floors early this year and the shooting will progress till mid 2019. Award winning director Priyadarshan is wielding the megaphone for this magnum opus with Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment bankrolling it jointly.

Mohanlal will be playing the title role in the film and it will have his son Pranav making a cameo appearance. If reports are true, he could be seen as the younger version of Marakkar. Also, Priyadarshan’s daughter Kalyani, who made her acting debut in a Tollywood film, will be seen doing a role in the film and it will mark her debut in the Malayalam film industry.

Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham has actors Prabhu, Suneil Shetty, Manju Warrier, Arjun Sarja, Mukesh and Keerthy Suresh in pivotal roles. It is based on the true life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. It may be mentioned here that the title ‘Kunjali Marakkar’ was bestowed on naval chiefs during the 16th century and these naval chiefs fought valiantly against the Portuguese army. There were four Kunjali Marakkars during that era, of which the fourth is the most valiant and popular.

The film will have extensive sea warfare sequences which will be its highlight. Sabu Cyril has been signed up to take care of the art department. Extravagant sets including two massive ships have been erected at the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. We hear that the director is planning to rope in three music composers, whose names have not been revealed.
