Every year, the stars of the 1980s celebrate their reunion in a grand manner. Top heroes and heroines that ruled the roost in the 1980s would get-together for a themed event which is the highlight. This year too, the reunion of the 1980s stars happened at a resort in Chennai. A few pictures from the event have been circulating online and from what we see we gather that the theme was denims and whites.

While top stars from the Tamil and Telugu film industries such as Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi and Nagarjuna could not make it to this year’s reunion that happened on November 10th, Malayalam star Mohanlal made his presence felt. Others that were present at this event were Shobhana, Menaka, Nadiya Moidu, Sarath Kumar, Ambika, Khushboo, Arjun, Bhagyaraj, Rahman, Suman, Sathyaraj, Jackie Shroff, Poornima Bhagyaraj, etc.

Every year, since 2009, the stars of the 1980s meet annually for a get-together and spend time reliving their past experiences. The venue for each year would be different. While this year it was at a resort in Chennai, last year it was in China.

The idea for a get-together, specifically for the 80s stars, was mooted by Suhasini Mani Ratnam and Lissy in 2009 and it has become an annual event since then. All of the reunions that have been held so far had happened in India except the one that happened in China last year. Generally, the get-togethers are theme-based with the stars coming up with different themes every year.

It may be mentioned here that director KS Ravi Kumar had inaugurated the 1990s stars’ reunion a couple of years ago with much fanfare and a get-together for the 1990 stars also takes place every year.
