Mohanlal has won the Special Jury Award for his performance in three films - Janatha Garage, Pulimurugan and Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol. The 64th National Film Awards were announced recently and Mohanlal’s name featured in the list.

Taking on to the Facebook to express his happiness, the star posted: “Hearty congratulations and sincere appreciation to all the National Award winners. I would also like to express my gratitude to Jury for having given me this special recognition. I am truly humbled and honored. Every film becomes a success only because of the team effort. I am taking this opportunity to thank and share this award with all my team members from the film fraternity, my family and friends for their love and support.”

The special jury award is not the first one for Mohanlal as he had received the award earlier for his performance in Kireedam in 1989.

Having acted in over 320 films in his illustrious career, Mohanlal has won five National Awards, nine Kerala State Film Awards and nine Filmfare Awards South, one International Indian Film Academy Awards, two Screen Awards, two South Indian International Movie Awards, and eight Kerala Film Critics Association Awards, apart from a host of other awards both nationally and internationally.

Mohanlal is currently busy playing the lead role in Villain which is being directed by B Unni Krishnan and produced by Rockline Venkatesh under his banner Rockline Entertainments Pvt Ltd. The film also has Manju Warrier, Vishal, Hansika Motwani, Renji Panicker, Srikanth, Raashi Khanna, Aju Varghese, Chemban Vinod Jose and Anand in the star cast.

Manoj Paramahamsa is handling the camera for Villain with Shameer Mohammed in charge of the editing. Being an action oriented film, which has Mohanlal playing a retired police officer; the stunts will be choreographed by Peter Hein, Stunt Silva and Ravi Varma.
