South Indian Cinema is opening itself to more number of multi-starrers. The latest in this list is Suriya’s upcoming yet-to-be titled film with KV Anand. Lyca Productions took to Twitter to make the official announcement that popular Malayalam star Mohanlal is on board for the movie.
KV Anand won his first national award for the Mohanlal and Shobana starrer Malayalam movie 'Thenmavin Kombathu' in 1995. The movie by Priyadarshan had become a blockbuster success and also catapulted KV Anand into fame.
Actor Mohanlal has recently wrapped up shooting for his upcoming Odiyan. The film, which has Mohanlal playing the titular role of Odiyan Manikkan, marks the directorial debut of ad film maker VA Shrikumar Menon and also stars Manju Warrier in as the female lead. The actor also has Kayamkumal Kochinni with Rosshan Andrews and Neerali with Ajoy Andrews.
With Odiyan and Neerali lined up for release in quick succession this year, Mohanlal has also inked the deal to star in a Ranjith directorial titled as Bilathi Katha.
Suriya has previously collaborated with director KV Anand in films like Ayan and Maattrraan. It was earlier rumoured that Priya Prakash Varrier who shot to fame with her wink in Oru Adaar Love was roped in to play Suriya’s pair.
The makers later clarified that the news was not true. KV Anand posted from his official Twitter account the film’s core team. Harris Jayaraj who has composed for the director’s previous films will also be a part of this project as well.
Meanwhile, Suriya is busy with his upcoming film NGK, which is being directed by Selvaraghavan. In this film, Suriya is sharing screen space with Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh. Yuvan Shankar Raja is the music composer for NGK while Sivakumar Vijayan is the cinematographer. This gangster drama is bankrolled by SR Prakashbabu and SR Prabhu under their banner Dream Warrior Pictures.
Reports say that NGK is being planned as a Deepavali release this year and is likely to clash with Vijay 62, which is being directed by AR Murugadoss.
