The first look of Mohan Babu from Mahanati was released by the makers. The actor all set to play iconic actor SV Ranga Rao on screen in much-hyped Mahanati, a biopic of Legendary actress Savitri. SVR who was a star during the black-and-white period bagged the title Vishwa Nata Chakravarthy with his finest acting prowess.

The makers released Mohan Babu's SVR look of Ghatothkach from KV Reddy’s Telugu blockbuster Maya Bazaar. 

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Mahanati is a trilingual made in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. The film is based on the life of the legendary actor Savitri and will contain some of the very interesting aspects of her life as an actor.

Savitri, a versatile actor, began her acting career in movies in the year 1950 with the release of Samsaram. She then went on to star in several movies in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

The actor also won several prestigious awards in her long career before her life ended abruptly due to substance abuse. It traces the period 1950s-60s when Savitri ruled the Telugu-Tamil film industry, which was also considered the golden age of South Indian cinema. The film is all set to release on May 9.

The film has an ensemble of actors in the star cast including Anushka Shetty as Bhanumathi, Naga Chaitanya as Akkineni Nageshwara Rao, Samantha Akkineni as Jamuna, Vijay Deverakonda, Shalini Pandey as VN Janaki, Prakash Raj as Aluri Chakrapani, Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam as Singeetham Srinivas Rao and Malavika Nair.

Dulquer Salmaan, who makes his Telugu debut via this project, will be seen playing actor Gemini Ganesan. Mickey J Meyer is the music director of this flick with Dani Sanchez-Lopez cranking the camera. The film is bankrolled under the banner Vyjayanthi Movies.
