Even as the two people who threw a dog from a terrace have been granted bail, the dog has been found alive. Having suffered minor fractures, the dog has been taken to Vepery Medical College Hospital for treatment. Based on a tipoff, an FIR was registered against two medical students Ashish Paul and Gautam Sudarshan under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act 1960 and sections 428 and 429 of the IPC.

“We assumed the dog was dead cause we couldnt find her. We couldnt speak to anyone around. The Insepector and his team visited the spot for an enquiry with the neighbours and they confirmed that this was the same dog. We were called upon to come and check on the dog and take her for treatment. We confirmed she was the same dog cause the video looked like she was a female dog, there is a small black patch on her tail, her hind legs are injured and she wasnt able to move properly. When I lifted her, she was shivering and peed all over cause she was scared and the give away was she was extremely timid and she was wagging her tail throughout. However, we will know for sure only when the police interrogates the students. We wanted to clarify to people who had doubts whether it was the same dog."
The pup now named Bhadra has suffered two fractures.
Shraban writes: "She has sustained fractures in 2 places: her right hind leg and her spine. Since the fractures have quite clearly happened around 2 weeks ago (the bones have already fused to a considerable extent), there is no doubt that this is the same girl as was seen in the video. She is still in a state of considerable shock and is not being difficult to treat, and recovery is expected to take 4-6 weeks as she is still quite young; in fact, not more than 5 months old."
Chennai police arrested the two final year medical students who were tipped off to be the minds behind the horrifying video of dropping a dog from a rooftop.
On Monday night, two teams were on their way to nab the students Gautam Sudarshan and Ashish Paul - but on reaching Madha Medical College, they were found to be absconding.
The family of the two students have been intimated, and have been given time till evening to produce them before the police.
"We have formed a disciplinary committee to deal with the issue.
We didn't know about the incident until today, but found that they hadn't attended classes for a week. We will suspend them or take the appropriate action once they surrender to the police", said S Peter, Chairman of the Madha Group of Institutions.
