Minor girl's alleged rape by IPS officers: CB-CID files status report in Madras HC

The CB-CID, which is probing the alleged rape of a minor girl by senior IPS officers, has filed a status report in the Madras High Court on Tuesday, reported Times of India.

It informed the bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Pushpa Satyanarayana that the final report would be filed in two months.

It also informed the bench that monetary compensation to the victim under the Victims Assistance Fund, has already been paid.

The police then adjourned the case to January 2, after asking CB-CID to file further status reports in sealed covers.

An affidavit was also filed declaring that the police officials had recorded the girl’s statement, in which she cited at least three senior IPS officers who were involved and identified them, when shown pictures.

A petition was filed on behalf of the minor girl, who is now 17, in October 2015 stating that she was sexually abused by several police officers, including senior IPS officials. Advocate and Social Activist T Vincent filed a PIL against the officers, which asked for a CBI probe into the matter. The probe was insisted upon, because even though the girl filed a police complaint at an all-woman police station in Shivaganga in June, the charges cited were weak and attempts were being made to scuttle the case.
