Keerthy Suresh's Mahanati, the biopic on legendary actress Savitri, is having a dream run at the box-office. With the film having won over audiences and critics alike, the team is thrilled by the overall response. In its opening weekend, the film has grossed over Rs 20 crore and counting, according to reports. While critics are calling it Keerthy's best performance to date, it’s also worth mentioning that Dulquer Salmaan as Gemini Ganesan has stunned audiences, especially filmmaker SS Rajamouli, who can’t stop raving about the film and Dulquer.

At a meet organised by producer Allu Aravind to celebrate the success of Mahanati, Rajamouli spoke at length about Dulquer’s performance. “Dulquer is mind blowing even in the smallest scenes. As a director, I wouldn’t know how to make my actors perform some of the scenes in the film. It’s not easy to sell the philosophy of Gemini Ganesan, but Dulquer sold it with his performance.”

Dulquer made his Telugu debut with Mahanati. He dubbed in his own voice for the Telugu and Tamil versions of the film. Meanwhile, basking in the terrific run of the film at the ticket window, Keerthy has joined the sets of Thalapathy 62, which marks her second time collaboration with actor Vijay after last year’s Bairavaa.

The Thalapathy 62 team is currently shooting a song which is being picturised on Vijay and Keerthy. The film marks the third time collaboration of Vijay and Murugadoss after Thuppakki and Kaththi. Tipped to be another action-based social drama, the film will have music by AR Rahman, who has teamed up with Vijay for the second time in a row after last year’s blockbuster Mersal.
