Malayalam film director and producer Anwar Rasheed has resigned from all film associations alleging that the associations did not take any action to curb widespread piracy that affected his latest movie 'Premam'. Rasheed has resigned from The Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) and Film Producers Association.  Reports quote Rasheed saying that he will independently take movies hereafter, without any association’s support.Rasheed’s, Nivin Pauly starrer Premam has been the highest grossing Malayalam film of the year. Within weeks of its release, pirated versions of the film were already out in public domain  and the pirated version of the movie carried the watermark "Censor Copy". Rasheed alleged that Association did not respond to this issue irrespective of his frequent complaints. "This is not an issue concerning just Premam. CDs and DVDs reaching the piracy market almost immediately after  a movie's release is dangerous for the industry." Rasheed to Southlive.com  "Associations like FEFKA and Film Producer's Association are of no use to the cinema industry or to people working in the industry. These associations are maintaining silence even when it comes to serious issues like piracy."
