A Metro train driver was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his room on Sunday. He was allegedly depressed after being suspended from work.

Dileep Kumar (28) belonged to Jakkanahalli village in Mandya and had been living in Bengaluru for the past two years.

He was staying with his two friends in a room in Dasarahalli. On Saturday night, his friends came and knocked the door but he did not open. Assuming that he may have slept, they left and came back the next day. At around 3:30 pm on Sunday, his friends found him hanging from the ceiling fan.

He was declared brought dead after being rushed to hospital.

“Three months ago he was suspended after he was found driving the Metro train under the influence of alcohol. As he was under depression he consumed alcohol every day and got addicted to it,” police said, according to a report in The New Indian Express.

According to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL), Dileep was not officially suspended. BMRCL is expected to give an official statement on Monday.

Peenya police have registered a case.
