The makers of Vada Chennai, one of the most anticipated films of the year, have released a promo video that gives us a glimpse of the characters in the film. Directed by Vetri Maaran, the film has Dhanush in the lead role.
Andrea Jeremiah, Aishwarya Rajesh, Kishore, Samuthirakani, Daniel Balaji, Pavan and Ameer are part of the star cast. The multi-starrer has been in the news since 2009 but it is only now that the film has finally shaped up.
The video, with Santosh Narayanan's intriguing background score, introduces each character in a splash of orange. The characters are named Kannan, Siva, Palani, Mani, Velu, Thambi (Daniel Balaji), Senthil (Kishore), Guna (Samuthirakani), Chandra (Andrea), Padma (Aishwarya), Rajan (Ameer), and finally, Anbu (Dhanush).
Andrea, with a red bindhi and her saree draped over her head, comes us a surprise as it is not a look that we have seen the actor sport previously. Dhanush carries a heavy beard. He reportedly plays a fisherman, who is drawn into a mafia gang against his wishes.
The film has faced several delays right from the beginning, with several actors walking out due to various reasons, before Dhanush and the current cast were finalised.
Vada Chennai is reportedly meant to be a two-part film. Produced by Dhanush's Wunderbar, the film is expected to release on October 17.
Vetri Maaran, who has also produced films, has four National Awards to his credit.
