Meenakshi Dixit, who has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi movies till date, has landed on a meaty role in the Mahesh Babu starrer Maharshi. Sources close to the actor say that she is thrilled and excited over sharing screen space with the star and is looking forward to it.

On her role in the film, Meenakshi told in an interview to the Deccan Chronicle, “I play a New York-born girl and what is interesting about my role is the relationship between me and Mahesh Babu.”

She also appears in a different getup in the film. On this, she pointed out, “I have gone for a complete makeover in everything beginning with my hair to the way I look, walk, talk and behave.”

About Mahesh Babu, she said that he is a thorough professional and his simplicity is what makes him a superstar.

Directed by Vamsi Paidapally, Maharshi is bankrolled jointly by Dil Raju, Ashwini Dutt and PVP. It is a high budget project with a major portion of it being shot in the United States. The film is about three friends played by Mahesh Babu, Allari Naresh and Pooja Hegde. It also has veteran actor Jayapradha playing a pivotal role. Reports are that it Mahesh Babu will be appearing in five different get-ups in the film and that the transition of his character will be from a college student to an entrepreneur.

Maharshi, which was originally planned as a Sankaranthi release, will now hit the marquee on April 9th next year. When the project began, it ran into some legal issues following which its shooting schedules went out of gear. This is one of the major reasons for its release date being pushed to April.
