Seba, a Christian nun from Kerala was reportedly disallowed from writing the AIPMT examination.Malayala Manorama reported that she was to take the examination at the Jawahar Central Examination hall in Kanjiramkulam. Officials at the centre asked the nun to take off her cross and her head-scarf, she claimed.The nun told the TV channel that she was willing to be searched and told the officials that, but they refused.She also told the news channel that the examiner was a Christian, but she told her that while there were rules for Christian Sabhas, here CBSE rules would apply.Watch Manorama video here. Seba claimed that she had offered to take the examination in a separate room but was disallowed. A nun who accompanied her told the channel that the officials had been polite in dismissing her though. The nun told another news channel Asianet that she decided to return from teh examination hall as the veil could not be removed at will.On Friday the Supreme Court dismissed petitions filed by two Muslim girls and the Students Islamic Organisation of India questioning the CBSE circular which prohibited students from wearing the purdah or a scarf to the examination hall.“Your faith won't disappear if you appear for exam on one day without a head scarf or a purdah..It is nothing but ego...no, we are not going to interfere in such small issues,” Chief Justice HL Dattu, while heading a three judge bench, said, according to an India Today report. However, the Kerala High Court on Tuesday allowed two Muslim girls to wear headscarf and full-sleeved dress for the AIPMT, provided they reach the examination centre half hour early and allow to be frisked by a woman invigilator.A CBSE notification disallows students from wearing pendants, raings, bracelets and other kinds of jewellery in the examination hall.
