How about a McMasala Dosa burger with molaga podi sauce for breakfast?


In an attempt to boost business, the fast food joint is all set to launch a new range of dishes in its breakfast menu in the country. 

The new range, which is a mix of Indian and continental cuisine, will include masala dosa burgers, spinach and corn and hash brown brioches, plain and masala scrambled eggs, waffles and hotcakes, The Economic Times reported. 

Some of the items in the new range will only be available in the mornings. 

McDonald's will launch the new range first in Mumbai during this weekend, following which it will be made available in its other outlets across the country. 

"We continue to look at inspiration from Indian cuisine and bring it as a McDonald's format which will give you flavours from the west but the familiarity of Indian," said Amit Jatia, vice-chairman of Westlife Development, which runs McDonald's restaurants in the west and south, told ET. 

Twitter, however seems to be sceptical of McDonald's decision to combine a burger with a dosa. 

With out-of-home breakfast being one of the fastest growing business platforms in India, McDonald's has also been looking at the possibility of starting an All-Day Breakfast campaign, which is available in the United States, in the country. This would mean that customers could order items from the breakfast menu throughout the day instead of only in the mornings. 

The company has been serving breakfast items in India for a few years now and the present menu includes hash browns, Veg McMuffin, Hot Cakes, McEgg and Sausage McMuffin. 

While world over McDonald's is known for its Big Mac beef burger, in India it does not serve beef and has had to localise its menu significantly to adapt to the Indian market. 

It was in 1996 that the multinational company opened its first branch in India, in New Delhi's Basant Lok. It also was the first  McDonald's restaurant in the world which did not serve beef and pork-based products.

Currently, McDonald's has 300 restaurants in the country with plans to double the number of outlets by 2020.
