An MBA student hanged herself during a video call with her friend at a hostel in Hyderabad, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred at the private hostel in the city's Kompally area on Saturday night.
According to the police, Hanisha Chowdhary resorted to the extreme step while talking to her friend Dakshit Patel. The police said that the duo were in a relationship. Chowdhary was shifted to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
The victim was from Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh, and was reported to be studying in the second year of her MBA course at Sivasivani Institute of Management.
A police officer said they have recovered the deceased's mobile phone and were investigating the cause behind the suicide. They are yet to ascertain the reason behind the woman taking the extreme step.
The body was later shifted to the state-run Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad for a post morterm, and a case of suspicious death has been registered.

In October last year, an engineering student, who was allegedly scolded by her mother, committed suicide after posting on Instagram that she was "afraid to be happy".
C Mounika, (21), hanged herself when she was alone in her house in Suraram Colony on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
"Now a days I am afraid to be happy. I don't know... people don't want to look at me when I am happy in my life. Every moment in my life is going so worst," she wrote, fed up with her life, just before she took the extreme step.
