On the occasion of Mollywood star Mohanlal’s 61st birthday, the makers of the Malayalam movie Marakkar:
The film was initially slated to release on May 13, however, the makers postponed it in the wake of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. The theatrical release of the film has been postponed four times so far. The movie was originally slated to release on March 26, 2020. It was later postponed to March 26 this year, but once again, the team pushed the release to a later date.
Helmed by Priyadarshan, the movie features a star cast which includes Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, Suniel Shetty, Keerthi Suresh, Arjun Sarja, Suhasini, Prabhu, Siddique, Nedumudi Venu, Innocent, Mukesh, Pranav Mohanlal and Kalyani Priyadarshan.
Marakkar bagged the National Award for the best feature film of 2019. The film also received National awards for best special effects and best costume design. It is to be noted that athough the movie is yet to hit the big screens, the crew had completed post-production in 2019 and hence the film was eligible to win the National Award in the year 2019.

Many of Mohanlal’s co stars, fans and followers took to social media to wish the actor on his birthday. According to reports, the star celebrated his birthday with family and close friends at his Chennai residence. Some of the images from his birthday bash have gone viral on social media. The viral images include Mohanlal enjoying a slice of his birthday cake.
Mohanlal was last seen in Jeethu Joseph directorial Drishyam 2. The movie released on OTT platform Amazon Prime Video and garnered positive reviews from fans and critics alike. Drishyam 2 is the sequel of the critically acclaimed Malayalam movie Drishyam. He is also currently working on his directorial debut Barroz. Mohanlal will also be playing the lead role in the movie.
