Nagarjuna starrer Manmadhudu 2 went on to the floors recently. The official pooja, which happened on Monday, was attended by the cast and crew of Manmadhudu 2, besides Nag’s wife Amala Akkineni, son Naga Chaitanya, and nephews Sumanth and Sushanth. The film will be bankrolled jointly by Nag’s Manam enterprises and P Kiran’s Anandi Art Creations. Rahul Ravindran is wielding the megaphone for this venture.

During the muhurat ceremony, writer Satyanand presented the script of the film to the director and Amala sounded the clapboard to mark the beginning of the shooting. Naga Chaitanya switched on the camera. Reports are that the shooting of the film will progress in Hyderabad for a few days and then the team will be flying down to Europe to can some important portions.

Manmadhudu, a 2002 rom com, had Akkineni Nagarjuna in the lead role and he had bankrolled the venture under his home banner Annapurna Studios. The film was a big hit of his career and after 17 years, a sequel to it is being made.

It may be noted here that Manmadhudu was directed by Vijaya Bhaskar with its story, screenplay and dialogues penned by the ace director Trivikram Srinivas. The film starred Sonali Bendre as Nag’s leading lady with the star cast also including Anshu, Chandra Mohan, Tanikella Bharani, Brahmanandam, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam and Sunil in supporting roles. Its technical crew comprised Devi Sri Prasad for music, Sameer Reddy for cinematography and A Sreekar Prasad for editing.

On Nag choosing Rahul Ravindran to direct the sequel, we hear that the actor-turned-director impressed the star so much with his debut flick Chi La Sow that fetched him the opportunity to don the director’s robes for the sequel to Manmadhudu.

Nagarjuna has finalised young music sensation Chintan Bharadwaj to compose tunes for the film. Sources revealed that Nag is highly impressed with the album of RX 100 and asked Chintan to come compose tunes. After holding discussion with the talented composer, Nag has brought him on board to work for Manmadhudu 2
