Actor Manju Warrier recently shared a poster of her next film Mohanlal – titled after Kerala’s beloved superstar. The poster shows Manju getting out of an auto wearing big, reflective sunglasses, reminding us of Mohanlal’s famous look in Spadikam and several other movies. The poster also shows Indrajith Sukumaran, hinting that the actor maybe the male lead in the film.

Manju essays the role of a die-hard Mohanlal fan in the film, according to a TOI report. The poster, which is both colourful and quirky, has reportedly created a buzz among fans, aptly capturing the Mohalal fever or ‘Lalism’ popular in Kerala, according to the report.

According to reports, Manju plays the character ‘Meenukutty’ who was born on the same day the superstar’s first film Manjil Virinjya Pookal hit the screens.

Manju Warrier’s last movie was the biopic Aaami in which the actor played the famous Malayali writer Kamala Dad. The film, directed by Kamal, opened to mixed reviews. However, Aami was mired in controversy even before the film released with director Kamal’s statements about Vidya Balan, who was to essay the lead role. Vidya backed out from the project, leading to the director making disparaging comments about her. Religious groups also protested against the film's release, claiming that it promoted "love jihad".

After the film’s release, Facebook viewers alleged that posts criticising the movie have been taken down by the social media website.
