The News Minute | November 20, 2014 | 08:38 am IST  (Last updated: 5.46 pm IST) A student from the north-east was allegedly beaten up in Bengaluru on Wednesday evening after he protested when a group of men misbehaved with a girl, states a report by Deccan Herald. The incident took place near Byrathi Cross in Kothanur.  Twenty one year old Samuel, who hails from Manipur and is an undergraduate student in the city, found the men harassing a girl  near Byrathi Cross on Wednesday evening. When he objected and confronted the men, they assaulted him and left him with head injuries. The trio fled the spot soon after. Samuel was taken to a nearby hospital and is said to be in stable condition now. A case has been registered in the Kothanur Police station, adds the report.  Police Commissioner M N Reddi says the police have arrested three people and that he would not like to comment on the extent to which the crime was on account of the fact that the man was from the north-east. He also said that the police had acted swiftly.
