Ace director Mani Ratnam is bankrolling a film under his banner Madras Talkies with GV Prakash, Vikram Prabhu, Madonna Sebastian and Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead. Touted to be a family drama, the project titled Vaanam Kottatum will be helmed by his his former associate Dhanasekharan. The film will have two heroines, Madonna Sebastian and Aishwarya Rajesh as the female leads. Sources say that Madonna plays Vikram Prabhu’s pair in the film while Aishwarya Rajesh will be seen as his sister.

The groundwork for Vaanam Kottatum has begun already and the shooting will start in July this year. Radhika and Sarath Kumar have been signed up as well to play supporting roles in this flick. Though the star couple shared screen space in Chennaiyil Oru Naal, it’s been almost 20 years since Sarath Kumar and Radikaa paired up for a film. In this film, they will be seen playing husband and wife on screen as well. Govind Vasantha, known for his music in films like Seethakathi and 96, has been roped in to compose the tunes for this film and cinematography is by Abhiyum Naanum-fame Preetha Jayaraman.

Mani Ratnam, who penned the story for Ratnam, was originally supposed to direct the project. However, due to his other commitments with respect to his next project, which is rumoured to be a film adaptation of popular Tamil epic Ponniyin Selvan, he couldn’t take this up. Sources told Dtnxt,"The film has its dialogues co-written by Mani Ratnam and will go on floors soon. The story was originally planned to be a Mani Ratnam directorial. However, he couldn’t take it up due to his commitments because of Ponniyin Selvan. The story of his production venture is a unique script that will cater to the audience across sections.”

Meantime, the latest reports are that Mani Ratnam will soon revive it with Vikram, Vijay Sethupathi and Jayam Ravi in the lead. Telugu actor Mohan Babu has been approached for a crucial role in this epic project, which is slated to go on the floors next year. Lyca Productions is most likely to bankroll the project. Apparently, buoyed by the success of Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, Lyca has agreed to come on board to fund Mani Ratnam’s dream project.
