A YouTube video surfaced on April 19, showing a driver of a KPN bus, a private bus service, caught by passengers inebreiated and with a bottle of liquor. The video was uploaded on Sunday by one Karthi Keyan, a passenger on the journey from Erode to Chennai (via Mettur, Vellore). The angry passengers are seen lashing out at the driver for putting their lives at risk. The video clearly shows the bus service to be KPN Travels India Limited, a bus travel service that functions in the four states of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and Karnataka almost on a daily basis. Their head office is in Salem. The three-minute video uploaded as two parts, shows the driver sitting on the entrance of the bus, surrounded by angry passengers trying to put sense into the driver. A liquor bottle is also seen placed next to the driver’s seat. Gopal Swami, General Manager at the Salem office feigned ignorance and told The News Minute that the company has not received any official complaint so far. He added that the company is not aware of any mishaps during any of its journeys. However, Karthi Keyan, in a comment on the video claims that a manager who arrived on the spot from the Salem office refused to take accountability saying that the travels is not responsible for the behavior of the driver. A report by Vikatan, a Tamil publication reveals that the incident occurred twenty days ago. The authenticity of it has, however, not been ascertained. The report also says that the authorities of the travel service refused to identify the drunk man in the video as their driver. The video has more than 66,000 views so far. Video of z0A1MWQXKyY
