The News Minute| December 7, 2014| 4.31 pm IST Dolls are known to be toys for small girls to dress up and play with. However, there is a whole other market for speciality dolls - dolls of certain movie or series characters. The Sheldon Cooper doll or dolls of characters from the Twilight series are very popular in the US. These dolls however turn out to not resemble the character as much as some people would like them to be. This is where Noel Cruz steps in. An artist, specialising in portraits and miniature doll paintings, Cruz takes these celebrity dolls and gives them a make over to make them look exactly like their real life counter part. His work is so good and unique that the minimum price for each doll is close to $1, 250 USD. And that's just for the paint job. He also redoes their hair and costume to make them look as authentic as possible. His work is also frequently auctioned for much higher prices.  "As an artist, I strive to always challenge myself and push the boundaries. My passion for hand painted miniature celebrity figures stems from my love of portraits, which has been my whole artistic arc since childhood. The satisfaction of not only the ability to recreate a person's likeness but to recreate it in lifelike 3D miniature form (i.e. dolls and action figures) is one that I consider immeasurable"says Cruz's deviantart profile.  You can check out more of his work here.  (Image: Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss from the Hunger Games.
