In a gruesome murder in Hyderabad, allegedly over a financial dispute, an auto driver was decapitated and his head was dumped three kilometres away from his torso. Police have already nabbed two for the crime committed on Friday.

On Friday morning, an auto driver identifying himself as Rajesh approached the Miyapur police stating that he found the headless body of his friend at Dharmapuri Kshetra. The police took Rajesh to the location, and upon searching, found a severed head on a road near IDA Bollaram, three kilometres away from where the torso was found.

Rajesh identified the body as that of his friend Praveen who he allegedly last saw being forcibly taken away and being assaulted by two persons. Rajesh told the police that he was present at the scene as the crime unfolded but ran away due to fear.

Police say that around 1 am on Friday, a financer named Srikanth and his relative Srinivas picked an argument with Praveen and Rajesh over a loan Rajesh had taken from the accused. The duo forcibly made Praveen sit inside Rajesh's auto and took both the auto drivers to an isolated area in Dharmapuri Kshetram.

Rajesh says he saw the duo assaulting Praveen, and escaped after panicking. Miyapur Inspector S Venkatesh told TOI, “He took some time before he came out of the shock, and then alerted the police. When we went to the location, we found the headless body.” They recovered the body from a few kilometres away, police added.

The accused took the victim’s head on their bike with them and later dumped it near IDA Bollaram, police said.

Praveen was a native of Warangal district and lived at Ameenpur. Police said Srikanth and his accomplice have been taken into custody.
