In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old beautician from Andhra Pradesh was found lying unconscious in a pool of her own blood, at a house in Hanuman Junction in the state's Krishna District on Saturday.

The police said that the victim, identified as Padma, may have been attacked by her partner, identified as Nutan Kumar, who seemingly tried to strangle her with a cloth and chop off her arms. She sustained deep cuts on her arms.

Speaking to the media, Krishna District Superintendent of Police Sarvasresth Triapthy said that Padma hailed from East Godavari district and had separated from her husband, Suryanarayana, a few months ago.

While Padma was living with Nutan since then, the police suspect that a fight broke out after the accused learnt that the victim was still in touch with her estranged husband, following which the attack took place.

“Deep injuries have been found on the two hands of the victim, Palle Padma, a homemaker. The dispute over the relationship is said to be the reason. The accused is absconding,” Tripathy was quoted as saying.

The police said that the victim was attacked with a blade and a letter 'S' was also etched on her forehead.

“Her estranged husband tried calling her last night but her phone was switched off. When she did not answer by morning, he and his daughter went to the house and found her lying in a pool of blood. She has been admitted to Vijayawada Government Hospital, where she is in a critical condition. Although we suspect her partner's role, we are also questioning her husband too,” an official told Express.

Doctors at the Vijayawada Government Hospital said that Padma had lost a lot of blood and they were making all efforts to ensure that she survived the ordeal.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered with the Bapulapadu police, who are on the lookout for the accused.
