The upcoming bilingual Mammootty-starrer Shylock has been titled Kuberan in Tamil.
The movie, touted to be a family entertainer, is directed by Ajai Vasudev. The film is being scripted by debutants Bibin Mohan and Aneesh Hameed and is expected to release during Christmas vacations this year.
Apart from starring Mammootty in the lead role, the movie also has Meena playing the female lead. Veteran Tamil actor Raj Kiran will also be seen in an important role in this movie, which will also mark his debut in Malayalam film industry.
Shylock is produced by Joby George under his banner Goodwill Entertainment. Gopi Sundar is composing music for this flick and the songs in the movie have been written by Harinarayanan. Renadive will be handling the camera for this project.
This is not the first time Director Ajai Vasudev and Mammootty are teaming up. The duo had first worked together in Rajadhi Raja that had released in 2014. Their second film together was Masterpiece. Mammootty played a cop in this action thriller while Unni Mukundan, Mukesh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Poonam Bajwa also starred in the flick alongside Mammootty. Masterpiece was produced by CH Muhammed under his banner Royal Cinemas and was a box office success.
Meanwhile, Mammootty’s Mamangam is currently in the post-production mode. Mamangam will be released in three other languages -- Hindi, Telugu and Tamil and is being made on a budget of Rs 50 crore. M Padma Kumar is the director of Mamangam, which is a historical film set in a different era. Mammootty is said to have donned four different get-ups in the film. The film has four heroines -- Prachi Desai, Prachi Tehlan, Malavika Menon and Abhirami V Iyer and Neeraj Madhav, Sunil Sukhada, Meghanathan and Sohan Seenulal in supporting roles.
