Malayalam Superstar Mammootty has scored a century at the box office and it is the first film in the Malayalam film industry to do so this year. The Great Father has also gone on to collect Rs. 50 crores at the box office.

According to reports from Forum Keralam, this Mammootty starrer is still continuing its run at a theatre in Calicut. Incidentally, the film’s opening day collections broke a record and in the course of time the film has managed to shatter some other box office records as well.

Directed by Haneef Adeni, The Great Father has been bankrolled by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Santosh Sivan, Arya and Shaji Nadesan under their banner August Cinemas. This mystery thriller has Mammootty playing the lead role with the cast including Arya, Sneha, Baby Anikha and Shaam. Sushin Shyam has composed the background score for this flick with Gopi Sunder composing the tunes for the songs.

Made on a budget of Rs. 6 crores, The Great Father went on to collect Rs. 50 crores, which proves its box office success, state sources in the trade.

With a big success under his belt, Mammootty is currently busy with a slew of projects including Masterpiece directed by Ajai Vasudev, Pullikkaran Stara directed by Shyamdhar, Kozhi Thankachan directed by Sethu and Raja 2 directed Vysakh. He has also been signed by director Jeethu Joseph for an untitled flick.

Apart from The Great Father that released this year, Mammootty also had another film release, Puthan Panam on April 12th. This film was directed by Ranjith, who had produced it along with Abraham Mathew and Arun Narayanan under the banner Three Color Cinema. With Mammootty’s The Great Father going on at the theatres for more than 100 days, the team is elated and so are his fans.
