The last time actor Mammootty and director Sathyan Anthikad worked together was for Oral Mathram which was released in 1997. After more than two decades, the veterans are likely to team up again and talks have been initiated, we hear. The buzz is that the project may start rolling later this year if things go well but for an official word, we need to wait for some more time as Mammootty is busy with a slew of projects which he has already agreed to.

Sathyan Anthikad, meanwhile, had made another great reunion with actor-writer Sreenivasan after 16 years, for the movie Njan Prakashan last year. Actor Fahadh Faasil became Sathyan’s and Sreen’s Prakashan, a fraudster of a man, trying to make a fortune through marriage. The film was penned by Sathyan and Sreenivasan jointly.

Mammootty two had been busy, with two releases this month, both in other languages – Peranbu in Tamil and Yathra in Telugu. Both these films are doing well. The films are critically acclaimed and the star’s performance in it is being lauded. Peranbu was written and directed by the acclaimed director Ram. Yuvan Shankar Raja composed music for this film with Theni Eswar wielding the camera and Suriya Pradhaman editing. The film was bankrolled by PL Thenappan under his banner Sri Rajalakshmi Films. Peranbu had dealt with the relationship of a father and his spastic daughter (played by Sadhana), getting to know and love each other after a long gap.

Yathra is a biopic on the legendary politician and Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajasekar Reddy, who died in an air crash. The film traced out his life and more importantly the Pada Yatra he undertook throughout the state which led him to the CM’s chair. The film, directed by Mahi V Raghav, has Mammootty playing YSR on screen.
