Director Haneef Adeni made his directorial debut with the Mammootty starrer The Great Father and had penned the Shaji Padoor directorial Abrahaminte Santhathikal, which also had Mammootty in the lead role. His recent release Mikhael, starring Nivin Pauly in the lead role, is also doing well at the box office.
And this has raised the expectation levels for Haneef Adeni’s next. And the buzz is that he had penned the story titled Ameer and had narrated it to Mammootty. On hearing it out completely, the mega star was so enamoured that he had agreed to play the lead role in it. Also, the star had allotted a four-month call sheet exclusively for this film, we hear. The shooting of Ameer will begin in April this year.
An interesting development about Ameer is that it will be directed by Vinod Vijayan. Haneef Adeni initially planned to wield the megaphone for this venture but decided to entrust the job to Vinod Vijayan as he came up with the crux of the story that was later developed.
It may be noted that Mammootty is busy with Madhura Raja, an action entertainer, which is directed by Vyasakh. The film’s scripting has been done by the director in association with Uday Krishna. The first schedule of the film has been wrapped up successfully and the second schedule is currently on. The team will be wrapping up the entire shooting with the third schedule after which the post production will begin. Madhura Raja is scheduled for Vishu release this year.
Further, Mammootty’s Telugu film Yatra, a biopic on the late chief minister of Andhra Pradesh is scheduled for release next month. This movie will be dubbed and released in Tamil and Malayalam as well. The star’s Peranbu is also scheduled for release in February.
