Malayalam megastar Mammootty has signed a new project, we hear. The film will reportedly be directed by debutant Jofin T Chacko. Reports are that the director impressed the star with a script so much that he agreed to hop on board immediately. The only detail available about this film is that it will be a thriller. The filmmakers are in the process of roping in the cast and crew and we shall get official confirmation soon.

The buzz is that Mammootty has allotted priority dates for this film thereby pushing back other films in the pipeline. Anto Joseph will be bankrolling the film under his banner. While the groundwork is on for this thriller, Mammootty will be wrapping up his ongoing film One.

Reports are that One is a political drama that has Mammootty playing the Chief Minister of Kerala. Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Renji Panicker, Sreenivasan, Joju George and Murali Gopy have been roped in for important roles. The film, directed by Santhosh Viswanath, is bankrolled by ICHAIS Productions.

In the meantime, Mammootty’s other film in the pipeline – Mamangam -- directed by noted filmmaker M M Padmakumar, has reached the final stages of post-production. It is a heavy budget film made on a budget of Rs 50 crore. It is expected to hit the marquee on November 21. The technical crew includes Ganesh Rajavelu aka Jim Ganesh wielding the camera, M Jayachandran scoring the music, Sreekar Prasad in charge of the editing, and Kaecha Khamphakdee choreographing the stunts. It is being bankrolled by Venu Kunnampilly under the banner Kavya Films. Mamangam is a period film based on a medieval fair for the warriors. It has four heroines -- Prachi Desai, Prachi Tehlan, Malavika Menon and Abhirami V Iyer in the cast and those playing supporting roles are Unni Mukundan, Neeraj Madhav, Sunil Sukhada, Meghanathan and Sohan Seenulal.
