Two students from a Gujarat college drowned at the Candolim beach in Goa in the wee hours of Thursday.

Anuja Susan Paul from Chennai drowned along with her friend Gurram Chenchu Sai Jnaneswar, a native of Nellore in Andhra Pradesh.

Both of them were Crafting Creative Communication (CCC) students at MICA.  The students were on a five-day trip to Goa as part of their field trip.

The team of six students visited the Candolim beach around 3 am on Thursday.

They had left the institute on September 4 and were scheduled to return on September 9.

“Tragic Loss for the entire MICA Community. It is with great sorrow that we share with you the news of the sad demise of two of MICA’s one-year CCC (Crafting Creative Communication) Program students – Ms. Anuja Susan Paul & Mr. Gurram Chenchu Sai Jnaneswar. They were part of the CCC Field Study Trip in Goa along with the entire CCC batch. In the morning, a group of six students decided to go to Candolim beach. Unfortunately, two of them drowned and lost their lives.

MICA’s Leadership Team is in touch with their families and our thoughts and prayers are with them and the two departed souls.

Though Anuja is originally from Moovattupuzha of Ernakulam district, her family is settled in Chennai. She had completed her schooling in Chennai. Anuja is survived by her father Paul Basil, mother Sindhu Paul and sister Anjali Elizabeth Paul.

Gurram Chenchu Sai Jnaneswar was reported to be an alumnus of National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Warangal.
