The actor tweeted that he would play a role in the Dhanush film to be directed by Mari Selvaraj.

Veteran actor and filmmaker Lal has made an announcement on his social media page. He wrote that his next collaboration will be with the National Award winning Tamil star Dhanush. Lal wrote, “In Mari Selvaraj’s next! Looking forward to work with the multitalented @dhanushkraja. Shoot starting in December.”

Wielding the megaphone for the upcoming film will be Mari Selvaraj of Pariyerum Perumal fame. The shooting of this film, which has not been titled yet, will begin in December. Dhanush is currently shooting for director Karthik Subbaraj's next in London and is expected to wrap up his work on this project and then join the sets of Mari’s film which will be completed by February or March 2020.

During a film-related event, director Mari Selvaraj was quoted by the India Today as saying, “Dhanush gave me this opportunity after watching Pariyerum Perumal. The shooting will begin in December. All I can say is that the film will address an important issue just like Pariyerum Perumal. It will be a people's film.”

The untitled film will be bankrolled by Kalaipuli S Thanu under the banner of V Creations, who recently collaborated with Dhanush and director Vetrimaran for Asuran, which has turned out to be a blockbuster hit.

Lal plays an important role in the upcoming Malayalam movie Helen. The recently-released trailer of the movie shows him play a concerned dad to Anna Ben, who plays the titular role of Helen. The film makes the debut of Mathukutty Xavier as a director. He has also scripted the film in association with Noble Babu Thomas and Alfred Kurian Joseph. Noble Babu Thomas, the co-script writer, is playing the male lead in this film.

Helen has Aju Varghese and Rony David Raj playing supporting roles along with a set of debutants. Vineeth Sreenivasan is producing Helen under the banner of Habit Of Life and Big Bang Entertainments. Aju Varghese, Dhyan Sreenivasan and Vishak Subramaniam, will be distributing the movie under the banner Funtastic Films.
